Favourites! Why should you care about my favourites? Cats, foot cream, sheep excretions, questionable hair colours – what’s not to love?!
Let’s start with something simple and something which I know a lot of the beauty bloggers have been raving about:
Revlon Colourburst – Matte Balm
I love these, like I would take to a desert island love. I haven’t tried any other brands but I think these are amazing. Thick, pigmented and they feel so nice on the lips. I feel as though I will use them up pretty quick as I just love reapplying them! No more sticky lips with a nice layer of hair sticking to them or feeling as though the moisture has been totally sucked out.
Garnier Moisture Match – Illuminating Light Lotion – Normal Skin
It is one of my (small) missions in life to find the perfect day moisturiser – I cannot stand when my face feels greasy or if my moisturiser sits on top of my face and doesn’t absorb. I don’t wear a base everyday so this has been my go to face moisturiser and I am really enjoying it. It has a really light lemon scent (no heavily scented moisture smell) and absorbs into my skin really quickly leaving it feeling really light + SPF 20! I definitely think you need normal skin to use this – it wouldn’t be strong enough for dry skin.
Also can’t claim I am particularly illuminated when I wear it – but very possible my bags may just suck this off my face into their depths.
L’Occitane Shea Butter Dry Skin Foot Cream
Mm feet.. not my favourite body part but it is summer soon and my feet may (very much a maybe with English weather) make an appearance. This almost has a minty smell but it is very moisturising and has cleared up the dry skin on my heels.
If you know the pain of dealing with cracked heels which feel like someone is shooting you through the foot as you hobble about your day – then I don’t think this is heavy enough (when I was suffering through this, compeed do a few good patches/cream which were a god send!). My cat does not look too impressed when I made her pose with this but this cream is pretty cheap, quick and will mean I have silky feet by summer!
Lanolin – Dr Lipp Original Nipple Balm for Lips
Now here is where the sheep excretions come into play – even though slightly disgusting – I love them! This is lanolin and I think it is the best lip/intense dry skin cure ever. If you didn’t know what lanolin was, sheep produce it to provide a water proof grease which covers their wool and stops it from getting water logged, it traps moisture in and keeps a layer on the skin. I would say it is very similar to vaseline as in it sits on top of your lips, but in my opinion it is much better. It does look kind of like ear wax when you take it out but once you get over the small ick factor, definitely worth it. My lips could even be described as kissable!
Lanolin was traditionally used by breastfeeding mothers on their nipples which is why this has a slightly strange name but I’ve heard the lanolips brand is excellent as well!
Questionable hair – Ombre
I ombred my hair this month and I am unsure how I feel about it which is why I label it questionable. It has lightened since the above picture as I have been in Aus in the sun. I will report back on it’s progress and whether I decide to keep it!
Q&A A Day – 5 Year Diary
This is a bit random but I saw it on a youtube blog recently and think it is a great idea. This is a small diary which asks one question a day, with a gap to write the answer for 5 different years – you can fill in the year so can start whenever you want. Then after 5 years you will have a little time capsule and can see how your answers change over time. They vary from ‘what did you eat for breakfast?’ to ‘what is your biggest weakness?’ so you get a good variety of answers of important/day to day things. I think it’s such a great idea as I can never keep up with keeping a day to day diary!
What I’m Watching:
What I have enjoyed this month – quick fire style:
- The Good Wife – Easy, interesting watch, can put on in the back ground and get on with things without missing too much!
- True Detective – Need to concentrate but super worth it – plus can perve on Matthew McConnaughey (when he’s young)
- Broadchurch – Marathoned this on the plane, deep, enthralling, one of the best things I’ve watched this year.
Have you tried or watched any of the above? Let me know your thoughts and your faves!
