Aaaand I’m back. You probably didn’t notice but I decided to take a little week of blogging. I’ve been feeling a tad stressed lately, and was really lacking on both blog inspiration and motivation. A lot of the things I yapped on about in this post have been happening lately – which has resulted in a whole lot of change.
So what better to get back into the swing of things than with a little happiness link up! My fave posts to write and I’m also co hosting this week with the lovely Sally. Sally does her wonderful Wednesday posts every week and they are one of my absolute favourites. Be sure you check it out and hang around to the end of this post to add your link and get reading!
Spending family time over Easter. For Easter, I headed up with Paul to spend time with my grandma, uncle and sister in the Lake District. I have a whole post coming up on this and despite a few disasters including a whole lot of rain, we still had an awesome weekend. Plus having 4 days off work was just what I need to start to recharge my batteries.
Australian visitors. My lovely friend Meggie who I’ve known since school has been visiting the UK for the past couple of weeks and it has been so awesome catching up with her! We have mainly been doing a whole lot of eating (my favourite thing) and catching up all the goss from the last year since I’ve seen her.
Afternoon Tea. Linking in with the above, I took Meggie out to the Conrad St James for a gorgeous afternoon tea. I have a whole post on it coming up later this week, so keep your eyes peeled.
3 happy things. Similar to this post, I bought myself a gratitude diary from Kikki K and I really love it. It has space for 3 things you are grateful for that made you happy that day. Paul and I have turned it into our little daily ritual that at the end of the day, wherever we may be we sit down and chat about the good things from the day. It’s really been helping in cheering me up!
All the Easter chocolate. Although I decided not to do too many Easter egg swaps this year (last year the chocolate lasted until about October!!), I did get a few good eggs – a whole lot of mini eggs and this awesome lindt tree from my sister. It is so cute, I really don’t want to start eating it!!
A quick trip up and down the UK! With a whole lot of change in projects with work at the moment, it has meant a lot of travel. I did a quick trip up to Glasgow just for the day the other week, which although fleeting I did enjoy visiting the Scots and getting to eat some amazing Scottish salmon. I was also totally calm on both flights which was a big win! In the opposite direction, I’ve been spending a bit of time down South near Southampton – so if you have any suggestions for places or restaurants to visit down that way then do give me a shout.
A twitter detox. As I mentioned I’ve had a little blogging break, but I also took the easter weekend to really switch off from social media. Despite doing a couple of posts on instagram, I didn’t really touch twitter, pinterest or facebook all weekend and it was lovely. I have been falling a bit out of love with twitter in recent weeks so a break was just what was needed.
Lazy pub lunches. After a packed weekend going up and down the country, Easter Monday was the total opposite – we headed to a local pub where I had amazing smoked salmon Ceasar salad. We then spent the afternoon sheltering from the rain and having some quality couch time. Bliss.
Hot cross buns. I got into these late this year but I’ve been loving them over the weekend. Toasted with a bit of cheese on is just the best (though I have been told this is weird, let me know!).
