JC Chats: Wonderful Wednesday #10
Sigh. I have to start this post with a sigh. I fought those holiday blues for a good week. Then reality hit and frustration has built up and generally I’m feeling raaaaaather rubbish. That kind of rubbish where there’s not much you can do to fix it and I kinda just need to suck it up and be an adult but sometimes you just want to throw your toys out of the pram, you know?
So maybe a bit of Wonderful Wednesday vibes will give me kick up the butt I need to get me out of my funk. Honestly, please tell me what you guys do when you’re in that grumpy, frustrated kind of mood? Now, onto some good stuff.
Seeing Cirque Du Soleil
My sister obviously predicted the holiday blues so she bought us some tickets to Cirque Du Soleil for my birthday for when we got back! So last Friday we headed to the Royal Albert Hall to see Amaluna – their latest show. This was actually the first time I’ve been inside the Royal Albert Hall and it is so gorgeous inside. The show itself was also amazing – it’s been years since I’ve been to see the circus and I was so impressed.
The performers can do such epic acts, my favourite was definitely the human pyramid where they then flipped a forth person onto the shoulders of a human ladder. It was accompanied by a great soundtrack too – live rock music through the whole thing. If you get the opportunity to go and see it then definitely do!
Going out for Paul’s birthday
It was Pauls birthday this weekend, so of course, I tried to book a few things for us to do. We went out to Le Bab on the Friday night in Kingly Court with my sister and Callum. I have to say, fancy kebabs are rather delicious and I could eat about 5 vats of the hummus they serve with it.
On Saturday we dolled up and went to Hunan in Chelsea for an epic Chinese meal. The place has no menu, they just ask what you don’t eat then continue to bring dish after dish of amazing food. We had 17 (!!) in total and I really couldn’t fault any, from tempura green beans to crispy duck to vegetable dumplings, it was all spectacular.
Then if we couldn’t do any more, on Pauls actual birthday we went off to Greenwich to visit the Mean Time brewery. We had such a great time that I’m planning on writing a whole post about it in the coming weeks so keep your eyes peeled! Now we are definitely back on the diet wagon after all of that food.
I haven’t mentioned this on the blog before as it was a surprise present for Paul’s birthday! So we are off to Berlin in March for a long weekend. I went to Berlin a few years ago when I very first moved to London. I’m really excited to go back, plus Paul hasn’t been before. Hopefully I’ll be able to explore more of the city and it won’t be as frozen as it was when I went last time in December. If you’ve been to Berlin then do leave me your recommendations!
Quarter Life Cabaret with Bangarang
It was so nice to go and see the Bangarang girls as I’ve not seen them since before Christmas. We went to see KBs Quarter Life Cabaret again and it was just amazing as the first time! If you ever need an uplifting evening and reassurance that all your life choices were good and worth it, then this is what you need in life. It was at The Crazy Coqs in Brasserie Zedel, somewhere I hadn’t been before and was quite the cool venue. This definitely helped cheer me up in the cold and grey week.
Red Letter Days
Finally I’m working with Red Letter Days this year as one of their blogger ambassadors! I really love RLD, they are something I’ve bought and used since before this blog even existed so to be able to collaborate with them through the year is fab. On Monday I took a little trip out to their London offices to meet the team who are all totally lovely. Keep your eyes on the blog for more info in the coming months!
Now, tell me, what has made you happy this week?
